David Morrison is a Staff Accountant at Cox Wealth Management, where he combines his accounting skills with a genuine heart for people. David is part of Richard’s family through marriage, and over the years their relationship has grown into a true father-son bond built on love, trust, and respect. At CWM, he helps with tax returns, bookkeeping, and a variety of projects that support the firm’s commitment to excellent client service.
David holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a concentration in Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University and has completed 30 hours of master-level accounting coursework at Liberty University. He is also working toward his Enrolled Agent designation. With 15 years of experience, he has served in roles ranging from assisted living and nonprofit accounting to government auditing.
For the past decade, David worked with the State of Tennessee, where he gained valuable experience in compliance and auditing. He spent eight years as a Labor Auditor, helping employers through compliance reviews. He then spent two years with the Department of Revenue, conducting tax audits and assisting businesses in meeting their state tax obligations. These roles gave him a practical, people-first approach to navigating complex financial matters.
In 2019, David and his wife reached a personal milestone when they paid off all of their consumer debt, celebrating with the famous “debt-free scream” on the Dave Ramsey Show. Outside of work, David enjoys family life—cheering on his children in soccer and basketball and running marathons with his wife. His family is also active in their church, where faith plays a central role. Known for his humor, empathy, and willingness to listen, David brings both skill and heart to every client relationship.
